ABM College’s online Education Assistant diploma program develops the communication, planning and observational skills you will need to play a strong important supportive role in the classroom. Our program includes an overview of child development psychology, curriculum development, instructional strategies, special needs and more, all of which encourage the creation of an inclusive, learning-friendly classroom. A practicum component puts your new skills into practice, giving you real-world experience and insight so you can pursue this rewarding career path with confidence.

Understanding the cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language development of children from early childhood through adolescence will help you better respond to each student’s needs. You will assist students with lessons and assignments, accompany and supervise students during activities and helping special needs students with mobility, communication, personal hygiene and other tasks. You will also help educators with marking tests and worksheets, completing daily paperwork and preparing displays and bulletins. Training in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook will help you communicate effectively, keep records and organize your daily activities.
